Herd Genetic Testing

At Darst Farm, the use of Genetic Testing is a major tool incorporated in Heifer replacement management and Sire selection.  The cost of testing has decreased over the years and results have become more accurate. 

Environmental conditions will always have an overall  influence on the animal, but these test will reflect their true potential without over-graining/feeding. Reliable and accurate record keeping is one of the most needed and appreciated labour a farmer can do. It provides the legacy of his work for those with the same inspiration to have first hand access to.

The cattlemans Farm Herd Book, Register or Journal can never have too much information. It should just read in a logical sequence.
